SETTLERS CAMP

CARDBOARD REGATTA!!

 

General Rules:


Materials Allowed: Only corrugated cardboard may be used. It can be of any thickness but must not be bonded to any other material such as vinyl.
Materials Not Allowed: Non-corrugated material, especially the kind of resin or wax-type coating found in packing cases.  Solid cardboard and Carpet roll tubes. Styrofoam or rubber inflation devices. Sandbags or similar materials No ballast
Paints, Etc: Hulls may be painted with any “one-part” paint. No epoxy glues, fiberglass resins or “multi-part” varnishes or paints may be used. Hulls may not be “wrapped” in plastic, duct tape or anything else. Tar based substances like roof coatings are not permitted.
Joints: Joints and seams may be glued and or taped. Duct tape, contact cement, rubber cement, liquid nail, and a water sealer like THOMPSON’S may be used. No nails or metal or wood fasteners or staples may be used in the construction of the boat (small amounts may be used for removable decoration only).
Participants: Your vehicle must be able to hold two youth, both swimmers, but there is no limit to the number of participants per boat.
Adults/Youth: There will be separate classes in the race for youth and adult.
Powering your Vehicle: Your boat may be human powered only.  No gasoline, electric, steam, nuclear, hamster, wind, or any other type of non-scout or scouter machine may be used.  Paddles will be provided if needed.
Boat Design: Design is builder’s choice. Let your “imagination” reign supreme!! 
Safety Equipment: No boat will be allowed to leave the starting gate unless all persons on board are wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) (PFD’s will be provided.)
